Fiction

'If Drowned' is a fictional memoir in the form of a letter of explanation and apology from a father to his son. As a psychotherapist the author was moved by the journeys his clients undertook in their struggle to know themselves and find redemption and release. His story of lovers, mothers, gods and monsters is inspired by his clients' lives and his own in what one reader describes as “a vastly entertaining, challenging, superbly written account of love, loss and discovery.”

Includes 'TIPSOS'. A Greek island tour de farce!

Sexual shenanigans, mistaken identities, split-second entrances and exits, conversations going on simultaneously... 'Tipsos' is fast-paced and hilarious, a tale of human aspiration and fallibility, with a cast of characters who are engaging, endearing and real.

'BATHNIGHT or What Do Women Want?' is a satirical look at the battle of the sexes based on the question posed by Chaucer's Wife of Bath: 'What is the thing women most desire?'

Include Trust Me, I’m The PatientThe Power of Six and Metaphors in Mind. The theme common to them all is the remarkable ability people possess to chart their own paths towards healing and change. The job of the therapist in such cases is not to interpret the client’s experience or to make suggestions, but to facilitate clients to know themselves, using techniques based on the core values and practices of psychotherapist David Grove’s

Clean Language

Clean Language is so much more than a counselling, coaching, or problem-solving process. It enables people to ‘get inside’ the organization of their own minds like no other methodology we know, which allows the mind-body system to reflect on itself in a remarkably concentrated and direct way. James Lawley and Penny Tompkins, psychotherapists, authors of Metaphors in Mind

Philip Harland, Caitlin Walker, James Lawley and Penny Tompkins read excerpts from Trust Me, I’m The Patient at the launch of the book during the Northern Clean Conference in Liverpool. Carol Thompson provided a Clown commentary.
